Algerian Students to Benefit from Streamlined French Visa Procedures
France Eases Visa Process for Algerian Students Through Capago International
Capago International, the newly appointed visa service provider for France in Algeria as of April 2025, has introduced simplified procedures to make the Schengen visa application process more efficient, especially for Algerian students. The improvements are largely due to the automation of the slot allocation system, which eliminates the need for students to manually book visa appointments.
Automated Appointment Notification System for Students
Under the new system, Algerian students no longer need to schedule their own appointments for French Schengen visas. Instead, they will receive a confirmation message once their Campus France procedure is completed, which includes the date and time of their appointment.
Capago urges applicants to regularly check their email spam folders to ensure they don’t miss the appointment notification. As appointments are automatically assigned and cannot be changed, students are advised to plan accordingly.
Capago Replaces VFS Global and TLS Contact in Algeria
With Capago now handling France visa applications in Algeria, it has replaced previous service providers—VFS Global and TLS Contact. However, TLS Contact continues to operate in neighbouring countries such as Morocco, and has recently taken over US-based French visa services, establishing ten centres across the United States as of April 18.
TLS Contact has also expanded its presence within southern Morocco, providing visa support on a national level.
Algeria: A Key Source of International Students in France
According to Campus France's Key Data on Student Mobility, Algeria ranks among the top three countries—alongside Morocco and China—sending international students to France. During the 2022/2023 academic year, there were 32,147 Algerian students in France, making up 8% of the total international student population.
This figure reflects a 4% increase compared to the previous year and a 5% increase over a five-year period from 2017 to 2022, demonstrating Algeria’s continued role as a major contributor to France’s academic community.
