428,609 Students Were Admitted To The First Year Of Studies In The 2020/2021
In December 2020, 481 000 people have started their studies at Polish universities. As in the previous year, the most popular programme among the students is IT.

- 428,609 students were admitted to the first year of studies in the 2020/2021 academic year. Over 314,000 applicants started the Bachelor`s degree, and 114,000 students have enrolled in second-cycle studies
- Almost 300,000 young people study in public schools this academic year, and non-public schools enrolled over 129,000 candidates
For several years, the greatest number of candidates have been choosing IT as their field of study. This year it was over 33,000 people. Psychology was in second place with over 29,000 applicants, and the 3rd place gets management with over 25,000 applicants. The most competitive field of study is Internet engineering. In order to be enrolled in this course, the student had to overcome 28 competitors. To become one of the students of Korean studies, the applicant had to be chosen from 23 candidates. Among the most competitive courses are also Japanese and Korean studies, mechanics and machine design, mathematics, and data analysis.

More than 6 candidates apply for 1 place at these universities. The 4th place belongs to the Lodz University of Technology (over 5 applicants for 1 place).
The most frequently chosen university is the Warsaw University of Technology (45,000 applicants). The second university with the largest number of candidates is the University of Warsaw (over 43,000 applicants) followed by the Jagiellonian University (over 33,000 applicants).
