High Prices in Türkiye Driving Tourists to Greece
Turkish media reports indicate that rising costs in domestic tourism have pushed Turkish travelers to opt for Greece instead. Despite similar coastal experiences, the rising costs of accommodation, food, and drinks in Türkiye have made Greek destinations more appealing.
Some local Turkish media, such as Daily Sabah, have expressed concerns, stating, "We made Greece rich," acknowledging the economic boost provided by Turkish tourists to Greece’s tourism sector.

Greece’s Minister of Shipping, Christos Stylianidis, announced that between April and November 2024, over 100,000 express visas were issued to Turkish tourists visiting Greek islands.
The express visa costs €60 and allows single-entry access to the Greek islands without requiring a prior Schengen visa. The Minister hailed the program as highly successful, further strengthening Greece’s tourism economy.
