In September 2024, the Hungarian government proposed stricter regulations for hiring guest workers, which included:
- Local Hiring Priority: Employers must prove that no Hungarian workers are available for the position before hiring foreign workers.
- Restriction on Recruitment Agencies: Private recruitment agencies are prohibited from hiring workers from outside the EU.
