Nationals of Slovenia, Greece, Denmark and Cyprus Now Eligible to Travel Visa-Free to China
The move means that nationals from these four EU countries can legally stay in China for up to 15 days for tourism, business, visiting relatives and friends, and transit purposes without being required to apply for a visa at first, AtoZSerwisPlus reports.
The announcement of China’s decision to abolish visa requirements for nationals of Slovenia came following a meeting held on September 25 between Slovenia’ Foreign Minister, Tanja Fajon and her counterpart from China, Wang Yi.
Foreign Minister of China announced that a similar decision was also taken for nationals of Greece.
Visa Requirement Lifted for Nationals of Denmark & Cyprus
Earlier today, authorities in China announced the decision to abolish visa requirements for nationals of Denmark as well.
The decision came following a meeting held between the Foreign Minister of Denmark and China.
The Foreign Minister of China, Wang Yi, described Denmark as the only comprehensive strategic partner of China in Northern Europe, stressing that the relationship between the two countries has long been at the forefront of China’s relations with Nordic countries.
The Ministry expressed its hopes that Denmark will also introduce more convenient measures for Chinese personnel in order to visit Denmark.
China also abolished visa requirements for nationals from Cyprus. It means that Cypriot nationals can head to China without being subject to visas at first.
In this regard, Cyprus government spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis told reports after the meeting that the visa waiver is proof of the enhanced bilateral relations between the two countries.
Earlier this month, Chinese President Xi Jinping confirmed that Norwegians are also now eligible to enter China for stays up to 15 days without visas for different purposes, among them tourism, transit and business purposes. Citizens of several other EU countries currently enjoy visa-free entry to China, too.
