Polish Border Authorities Detect 3 Ukrainians With Forged Stamps on Their Passports
According to a report provided by Portal Samorzadow, Ukrainian nationals pleaded guilty to the charges and voluntarily submitted to punishment, AtoZSerwisPlus.pl reports.
The report says the first incident occurred on Sunday when a 32-year-old Ukrainian national reported to border control in Medyka to leave Poland.
“During the inspection, the Border Guard officer questioned the authenticity of one copy of the Polish border control stamp in the traveller’s passport. The fake allegedly came from the border crossing in Medyka” Sec. Salman said.
Soon after, another incident occurred at the Korczowa border crossing. According to BiOSG spokesman, a 55-year-old Ukrainian citizen planning to return to Ukraine had a total of eight fake stamps on the Polish border control in the passport.
After controls, it was detected that the foreign national did not cross the border on given days, while the questioned prints differed from the applicable pattern.
The latest incident took place on Tuesday morning at the Medyka border crossing point, on the exit from Poland.
“Border guards discovered as many as nine false prints of Polish and Lithuanian border control. The passport holder, a 37-year-old citizen of Ukraine, confessed to committing a crime during the explanation and voluntarily submitted to a six-month prison sentence suspended for two years” Sec. Sailman stressed.
The officer recalled that forging documents and using them as authentic is a crime punishable by imprisonment of up to five years.
He presented statistical data that reveal that this year Bieszczady Border Guard Unit officers questioned the authenticity of a total of 107 prints of border control stamps.
Authorities in Poland have recently been subject to similar situations more often.
Earlier this month, authorities in Poland revealed that a Ukrainian national who was banned from reaching Schengen Zone countries changed his name in order to enter Poland in an unlawful way.
According to Bieszczady Border Guard Unit spokesperson, the 39-year-old Ukrainian national was detained at the border crossing in Korczowa following attempts to reach Poland to obtain forged documents.
As for Lithuania, in order to tighten border controls and prevent foreigners from illegally entering the country, authorities in this country last month successfully updated the Schengen Information System (SIS), which supports borders and also law enforcement cooperation between as well as in the European Union Member countries, following the regulations adopted by the European Parliament Council.
Lithuanian Ministry of the Interior said that the system would help the country and other EU Member States ensure prompt data exchange on missing persons and also halt illegal acts.
