Polish Embassy Advises Indian Nationals to Avoid Agents for Schengen Visa Applications
Polish Embassy Warns Indian Citizens Against Using Agents for Schengen Visa Applications
The Polish Embassy in India has issued a formal advisory urging visa applicants to avoid using intermediaries or agents when applying for Schengen visas. The embassy emphasized that the visa process must be carried out independently through official channels and that unauthorized third-party involvement offers no benefits.
Embassy Disassociates from Unauthorised Agencies
The embassy in New Delhi and the consulate general in Mumbai clarified that they do not cooperate with any unauthorised external entities, including travel agencies, employment consultancies, or visa service centres. Applicants were warned that relying on intermediaries not only offers no advantage but could also lead to misinformation or exploitation.
All Applications Assessed Individually
Polish authorities stressed that each visa application is reviewed individually and thoroughly, regardless of how it was submitted. Intermediaries have no influence over the decision-making process, and visa outcomes are based solely on official criteria.
Applicants Should Only Pay Official Fees
One of the embassy’s major concerns was the high fees charged by agents, which are often unjustified. Authorities reminded applicants that when applying via official routes, the only required payment is the standard consular fee—no extra service charges apply.
Poland Plans New IT System to Block Intermediaries
To address widespread issues with appointment slot exploitation by agents, Polish authorities have announced plans to introduce a dedicated IT system designed to block intermediaries from hijacking visa appointment slots.
The Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the upcoming platform will include advanced verification methods, including the potential use of biometric identification, to ensure appointments are booked by genuine applicants.
While the Ministry has not yet specified an exact launch date, the system will be rolled out first in countries considered to be high-risk for migration fraud, including:
- India
- The Philippines
- Uzbekistan
Once its effectiveness is evaluated, the system will be expanded to other countries experiencing similar issues.
