Pozna? to open new information centre for foreigners
Good news - the city of Poznań is launching a new project aiming to help its foreign inhabitants.
The city of Poznań has partnered with the International Organization for Migration and the Centre for Migration Studies (Fundacja Centrum Badań Migracyjnych) to launch a new project addressed to foreigners from outside the European Union. As part of the project, Poznań will open a new integration and information centre called POINT (Poznański Ośrodek Integracji), which will provide guidance to foreign inhabitants of the city. The centre will operate from Monday to Saturday, offering adaptation courses, free Polish language classes, legal advice, career counselling and general help in four languages: Polish, English, Ukrainian and Russian.
Recently-arrived foreigners find it hard to adapt to the new environment, especially when it comes to formal matters. They often wander from one office to another, not knowing how or where to complete all the formalities. Our aim is to establish one place where foreigners will receive the support they need, said Jacek Jaśkowiak, Mayor of Poznań.
Foreign job seekers in Poznań will be offered individual consultations with careers advisers in order to learn where to look for employment, how to improve their CV or how to prepare for a job interview. For the time being, most of the services are provided remotely - online or by telephone. Foreigners who live in the area and are in need of advice or assistance, may call POINT employees at:
+48 503 979 758 (in Polish, English or Russian)
+48 733 432 397 (Polish, Russian)
+48 574 715 005, +48 796 522 506
(Polish, Ukrainian, Russian)
Or send an email to: office@migrant.poznan.pl.
The city has also announced its plans to launch a mobile application that would help foreigners find educational courses or creative classes offered by local community and cultural centres, libraries or sports clubs.
The whole project is set to last until September 2022.
