Spain’s Ministry of the Presidency, Justice, and Relations has extended the deadline for applying for citizenship under the Democratic Memory Law—commonly known as the Grandchildren Law—to October 2025. This decree, published in the Official State Gazette (BOE) on November 11, 2024, also introduces a new provision ensuring family members share the same application file.

- If a parent or grandparent obtains Spanish nationality, their children and grandchildren can inherit it under the same application.
