Sweden issued 92,000 residence permits to non-EU nationals in 2024, with work permits accounting for the majority. The Migration Agency reported that 18,453 permits (19.8%) were issued for study purposes, while 14,467 permits (15.6%) were granted for asylum, including those under the Temporary Protection Directive.
