US May Lift Entry Ban for Travellers From EU, UK and Brazil by Mid-May
The Biden administration may lift the travel ban for citizens wishing to travel to the United States from the 27 European Union Member States, the United Kingdom, and Brazil.
Based on some sources between Biden’s administration, the USA’s President may revoke several of the imposed bans, including the prohibitions mentioned above, by the middle of May, in order to facilitate the traveling process, AtoZSerwisPlus.pl reports.
However, nothing concrete has been confirmed in this regard up to this point.
May has been considered the target as it is believed that vaccinations might reach enough of a threshold to restore the travel process by then.
A US senior administration official stressed that “there is going to be a sea change in mid-May when vaccines are more widely available to everyone.”
The United States Department of Homeland and Security previously announced that it extended the travel ban imposed on land borders with Mexico and Canada until April 21, after taking into account the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic in these territories.
Canada urged the US authorities to maintain the borders closed until it secures enough vaccines to protect its citizens’ health.
On the other hand, the US’s government urged Mexico to enforce mask protocol and improve the testing process before reopening its borders.
The administration of the former President of the US, Donald Trump, prohibited entry for citizens of the United States in March last year due to the rapid spread of the Coronavirus first wave.
The United States is on the top list of countries affected by the Coronavirus pandemic, based on the Worldometers data.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, the US has registered a total of 30,639,651 infection cases, while 556,895 have died. Over 23,039,640 persons have recovered from the Coronavirus in the US, as yet, while there are 7,043,115 active cases, based on the data provided by the same source.
In January, former President Trump announced that he would lift the entry ban on passengers from the EU’s Schengen Area, the United Kingdom, and Ireland, which were imposed in March 2020.
Such a decision was confirmed by the White House, which said that President Trump signed new proclamations removing the ban imposed on entry for travelers from 28 countries in Europe.
However, in February, the Biden administration signed several proclamations, re-imposing entry bans for persons who attempt to enter the US from European Schengen Area, the United Kingdom, and South Africa, among other territories.
