Poland’s unemployment rate second lowest in the EU
Poland had the second lowest unemployment rate in the European Union in December 2021, according to Eurostat data.
Last December, the average EU unemployment rate was 6.4 percent, down from 6.5 percent in November 2021 and 7.5 percent in December 2020. According to Eurostat, the European Union's unemployment rate was roughly 13.6 million by the end of 2021. In terms of youth unemployment, the number of unemployed EU residents under the age of 25 declined to over 2.7 million, a 385,000 decrease over the same period in 2020.
According to Eurostat, Poland had the second-lowest unemployment rate in the European Union in December 2021, at 2.9 percent (down from 3.4 percent the year before). Unemployment among persons under the age of 25 had also decreased, with the country's youth unemployment rate dropping from 14.6 to 11.9 percent in a year, much lower than the EU average (14.9 percent) at the end of last year.
The Czech Republic, which topped the rankings with a jobless rate of 2.1 percent, has the lowest number of unemployed persons in the EU. Spain and Greece, on the other hand, had the biggest number of unemployed persons among all EU member nations, with unemployment rates of 13.7% and 12.7 percent, respectively.
People between the ages of 15 and 74 who are jobless, have actively sought work in the previous four weeks, and are available to start work within the next two weeks are defined as unemployed by Eurostat.
